Head coach Doeren named McNutt CB coach
January 27, 2011
Nearly two months after being named the new head coach of NIU football, Dave Doeren has completed his coaching staff, naming Richard McNutt the Huskies’ cornerbacks coach.
McNutt has spent time as a coach at the NFL level with the Cleveland Browns, coaching the teams’ safeties in 2008.
Most recently, McNutt spent the last two seasons in the MAC, as the defensive backs coach at Kent State, where the 2010 Golden Flashes ranked No. 1 in total defense in the MAC.
The Flashes also ranked No. 2 in the MAC in pass efficiency defense.
“I am very happy to return home to Illinois with the opportunity to coach at NIU and recruit in the Chicago area,” McNutt said in a press release. “This is a blessing, to come to a program that already has a rich tradition and history of success.”
McNutt is a native of Park Forest, Ill., and spent his collegiate career as a cornerback at Ohio State.
