Student fan bus offered for MAC Championship game

Friday will be the NIU football team’s first appearance in a MAC Championship game since 2005.

In an effort to give students an affordable way to attend the game in Detroit, the Student Association and Campus Activities Board, in partnership with Intercollegiate Athletics, have put together a fan bus.

Available only to NIU students, the fan bus package costs $20, which includes a game ticket and transportation to and from Ford Field.

The bus will leave at 9 a.m. on Friday and will return immediately following the end of the game.

Tickets will be sold from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Convocation Center Box Office, unless the bus sells out before Thursday.

Angela Dreessen, director of Student Involvement and Leadership Development, wanted NIU students to have an easy way to support the Huskies.

“The Student Association and Campus Activities Board felt it was important to provide students who had interest with an affordable and safe option to go to the game,” Dreesen said. “We are anticipating a sell-out and are encouraging students who want to go on this trip to purchase the package on Monday.”
