Grant Towers sell dates for charity, relaxation
November 29, 2010
Just days away from final exams, the Grant Towers staff is giving students the opportunity to put down the books and blow off some steam.
The Grant Hall D council is sponsoring a charity date auction Tuesday night and hosting a “Jingle ‘N’ Mingle” mixer Wednesday night, where residents of all Grant towers can relax and socialize.
The charity date auction will be held in the Grant North lobby from 7 to 9 p.m.
During the charity date auction, students will have the opportunity to bid for dates with fellow residents or even community advisors, said Martise Cooks, Grant North Hall Director.
“Our staff wanted to put together an event where we could give money to charity,” Cooks said.
The money raised during the event will be given to Hope Haven, a charity that provides resources to people with disabilities.
“All of the proceeds are going to charity,” Cooks said.
Cooks said students volunteered to be auctioned off, and will work out activities to do with the winner after the auction.
On Wednesday night, the Jingle ‘N’ Mingle mixer will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Grant South formal room.
“We’ll be decorating cookies, gingerbread men and making Christmas ornaments,” said Bianca McGraw, Grant Hall A Director.
Cooks said the events are mainly for Grant residents, but anyone is welcome to attend.
