City blotter for 10/07/10

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from the DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
- At 2:17 p.m. Monday, DeKalb Police noticed a car driving in front of them in the 500 block of North Seventh Street that failed to stop at a red light. After a stop was conducted, it was determined the driver, Maria Hernandez-Martinez, 21, of DeKalb, did not have a valid driver’s license. Hernandez-Martinez was arrested on charges of no valid driver’s license and disobeying a traffic signal. She was transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later released after posting bond.
- At 2:36 p.m. Monday, DeKalb police observed a vehicle in the 1200 block of East Lincoln Highway make an improper turn. James M. Mire, 59, of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), DUI over .08 and making an improper turn.
- At 11:21 p.m. Monday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle at the intersection of Annie Glidden Road and Taylor Street that had its parking lights on, but no headlights were on. Before police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle, the individual turned on the headlights. Calvin O. Russell, 22, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged for no lights on when required, driving with a suspended license and no insurance. Russell was transported and later released on bond.
- At 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, DeKalb Police learned a person in the 1100 block of School Street had a warrant out. Asha D. Stewart, 28, of DeKalb, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant. Stewart was transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later posted on bond.
- At 8:49 p.m. Tuesday, DeKalb Police served a warrant to a person in the 800 block of Russell Road. Hamilton L. Henson, 21, of DeKalb, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant. He was sent to the DeKalb Police Department. Hamilton was unable to post bond and then transported to DeKalb County Jail.
- At 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, DeKalb Police located a person in the 1100 block of Rushmore Drive who had an active arrest warrant on them. Anton T. Hale, 29, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with a failure to appear warrant on possession of cannabis. He was sent to the DeKalb Police Department. Hale was unable to post bond and then transported to DeKalb County Jail.
