DeKALB | Eleven people were honored at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences first Annual Distinguished Alumni, Faculty and Staff Awards on Oct. 15.

Eight of the eleven honorees attended the event. These people were selected from nominations submitted by members and friends of the NIU community.

In Dean Chris McCord‘s address to the audience, he said “[The honorees] are, in their varied ways, the very best of who we all strive to be: a community of scholars and learners; people who believe deeply in the lifelong quest for knowledge; and who show the transformative power of education.”

McCord, along with Provost Ray Alden, were the presenters of the award. President John Peters also spoke to the audience.
