MAC West
Ball State fell in overtime to Eastern Michigan, 41-38. Cardinals quarterback Keith Wenning threw three touchdown passes, plus a rushing score as well.
At one point during the second quarter, the Cardinals had a comfortable 28-7 lead, but the Eagles scored 28 unanswered points.
Central Michigan got burned in the final minute of play as they lost to Miami (OH), 27-20.
The Chippewas’ secondary let RedHawks receiver Andrew Cruse get wide open on a 71-yard touchdown catch.
Central Michigan quarterback Ryan Radcliff threw three interceptions on the day.
The 18-game losing streak for Eastern Michigan is no more after they defeated Ball State in overtime, 41-38. Eagles’ quarterback Alex Gillett hit receiver Ben Taylor for a 12-yard touchdown pass. Ball State couldn’t contain Gillett as he ran for 189 yards with two touchdowns plus three scores through the air.
The winning streak is now at four for NIU as the Huskies defeated Buffalo, 45-14.
It was homecoming weekend for the Huskies and they delivered big with a blowout of the Bulls.
NIU quarterback Chandler Harnish had three total touchdowns while running back Chad Spann had two of his own.
Toledo came from behind to defeated Kent State 34-21.
The Rockets scored 34 consecutive points after allowing 21 opening points to the Golden Flashes.
Quarterback Austin Dantin and running backs Adonis Thomas and Bernard Reedy each had a rushing touchdown in the game.
Notre Dame was just too much to handle for Western Michigan as the Broncos were dealt its fourth loss of the season, 44-20.
Fighting Irish quarterback Dayne Crist picked apart the Broncos’ secondary by throwing three touchdown passes.
Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder had two rushing touchdowns.
MAC East
Ohio scored in every quarter in its 38-10 victory over Akron.
Bobcats quarterback Boo Jackson made the Zips’ defense pay with a seven-yard touchdown pass while adding to rushing touchdowns. Ohio stands in second place in the MAC East standings.
Temple squeaked by for another victory as the Owls defeated Bowling Green, 28-27.
Owls’ running back Bernard Price was back in his old form, running for 106 yards with a touchdown.
Temple redshirt freshman Mike Gerardi came in the game and had two touchdown passes.
Bowling Green’s late comeback wouldn’t be enough as they fell on the road to Temple 28-27.
Falcons quarterback Matt Schilz threw early and often, completing 31 of his 51 passing attempts. Bowling Green is currently on a four-game losing streak.
Kent State went cold against Toledo, losing 34-21. The Golden Flashes opened strong and at one point had a 21-7 lead right before the first half concluded. The offense didn’t follow up in the second half.
Buffalo couldn’t do anything in the second half of play against NIU as the Huskies rolled 45-14. Bulls quarterback Jerry Davis never got comfortable in the pocket, completing seven of his 23 passing attempts for just 101 yards. Buffalo is now 1-7 all-time against the Huskies.
Akron has now lost seven in a row after Ohio thumped the Zips 38-10. Zips’ quarterback Patrick Nicely has thrown five interceptions in the past two weeks, two coming against the Bobcats.
Miami (OH) sits atop the MAC East standings after it defeated Central Michigan 27-20.
Sophomore quarterback Zac Dysert threw for 399 yards, with a late 71-yard bomb to Andrew Cruse to clinch the victory.
