The expected battle for next year’s starting quarterback between sophomore Ron Reichert and redshirt freshman Arron Gilbert may not occur.

Sources close to The Northern Star reported that Reichert may be in the process of leaving the team either by being cut or transferring to another school.

Offensive coordinator Joe Dickenson commented that Reichert will not be available to play in the season’s finale at Mississippi this Saturday. He did not give a specific reason, but rather cited team problems, and did not expand.

When told of rumors that Reichert may be cut, he commented that that would be something specifically between head coach Charlie Sadler and Reichert.

Sadler and Reichert were unavailable for comment.

Reichert has not seen action since the loss to the University of Southwestern Louisiana and did not make the trip to Iowa.
