    Ward of the NIU football team was named MAC West Special Teams

    Player of the Week for the second time this season. He garnered the

    distinction after blocking a punt in the NIU victory over

    Minnesota. The freshman safety registered his second blocked punt

    of the season against Buffalo. Ward also forced a fumble and added

    two tackles in the Huskies’ victory on Saturday.

  • Earlier this week, the NIU women’s golf team participated in

    its last event of the fall at the Longaberger Golf Club. At the MAC

    Fall Preview, the Huskies got the opportunity to sample the course

    they’ll take on at the MAC Championships this spring. <a href=

    Michelle Caporusso set the pace for the Huskies on Monday;

    shooting a five-over 77.

  • Competing in its last regular season competition, the NIU cross

    country team took 11th place at the Tori Neubauer Invitational in

    West Salem, Wis. Every Huskie competing in the event set a personal

    record in the 6k. Racing in her hometown, <a href=

    “http://www.niuhuskies.com/sports/w-xc/mtt/oldenburg_courtney00.html”>

    Courtney Oldenburg finished first for the Huskies and tenth

    overall with a time of 22:03.60; the fastest 6K time for an NIU

    runner since the 2004 MAC Championships.
