Home-field advantage wasn’t a factor for Ball State as they fell to Western Michigan 45-16.
It was all but over at the conclusion of the first half as the Broncos would put the Cardinals in a 31-6 hole.
Ball State‘s only touchdown on the day came from a 41-yard run by running back Eric Williams.
A 45-21 loss to Virginia Tech extended Central Michigan’s losing streak to three games.
Hokies’ quarterback Tyrod Taylor had his way with the Chippewas’ defense with three total touchdowns.
Central Michigan quarterback Ryan Radcliff produced all of its scoring with three touchdown passes.
Vanderbilt laid down the law on Eastern Michigan 52-6.
The Commodores out-gained the Eagles in the yards department, 558 to 209. Eastern Michigan Alex Gillett went 10 for 20 with 99 passing yards.
The Eagles lost five in a row to SEC teams, and now have lost 18 consecutive contests overall.
NIU came out victorious in the battle of the MAC’s finest as the Huskies defeated Temple, 31-17.
Huskies’ quarterback Chandler Harnish earned his second-straight MAC West Player of the Week honors.
Harnish passed for 282 yards and two touchdowns. Chad Spann chipped in 100 yards rushing with one touchdown on the ground.
Toledo didn’t fair well against No. 4 Boise State losing, 57-14. Heisman Trophy candidate Kellen Moore tossed three touchdown passes for the Broncos.
Senior running back Jeremy Avery added three touchdowns of his own on the ground.
The Rockets scored their two touchdowns in the first and fourth quarter.
Quarterback Alex Carder ran for three touchdowns as Western Michigan romped Ball State, 45-16.
Carder also did damage via the air, going 17 for 29 with a touchdown pass to Juan Nunez. On the defensive side, redshirt freshman Lewis Toler picked off Cardinals’ quarterback Kelly Page and returned it for a touchdown.
The victory ended the Broncos’ two-game losing streak.
