Campus blotter for 09/17/10

  • At 1:14 p.m. on Wednesday an officer responded to the Huskie Stadium for a report of a criminal defacement. Upon arrival, he met with a complainant who showed him writing on a stall wall in a men’s bathroom. The complainant observed the writing on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Due to no leads and no suspects, this case is administratively closed.
  • At 1:40 p.m., an officer responded to Lot X for a report of criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, she met with a complainant who stated that someone damaged his car’s windshield. The damage occurred between 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The case is pending investigation.
  • At 1:49 p.m., an officer responded to the NIU Police Department for a report of a hit and run. Upon arrival, he met with a complainant who stated that a vehicle struck the back side of his left leg and hit his backpack. This occurred earlier between 9:50 a.m. and 9:55 a.m. near Graham Hall. The Black SUV drove off. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 8:50 p.m., an officer responded to the fourth floor of Grant South B Tower regarding an obnoxious odor. Contact with the residents of the specified room produced cannabis. The residents admitted to smoking cannabis and to being in possession of cannabis. Both residents were referred to the NIU Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of cannabis.
  • At 10:15 p.m., an officer interacted with four individuals in Eco Park. All four admitted to smoking cannabis earlier. One admitted to possession of alcohol and cannabis. He received a verbal warning for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.
