Campus blotter for 9/28/10

FRIDAY

• At 11:48 p.m. an officer on patrol near 1026 W. Hillcrest Drive observed an individual carrying a backpack.

Contact with the underaged individual revealed he had several cans of beer inside the backpack.

He was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor.

SATURDAY

• At 9:15 p.m. a sergeant on patrol conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle stopped in the roadway. The driver was found to be in possession of cannabis.

He was arrested, charged with possession of cannabis under 30 grams, processed at the NIU Police Department and released after posting bond.

SUNDAY

• At 4 a.m. an officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction.

Contact with the occupants of that vehicle revealed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were under the age of 21. Both admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages.

They were arrested, charged with unlawful consumption by a minor, processed at the NIU Police Department and released after posting bond.

• At 2:52 p.m. an officer responded to the first floor of Neptune Hall North for a call of individuals smoking cannabis in a room. Contact with three residents of the suspected room confirmed the presence of cannabis.

Two of the three admitted to smoking cannabis.

All three were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis under 30 grams.

• At 6:33 p.m. an officer took a report of a theft of a hood ornament.

A complainant advised someone stole the chrome Jaguar hood ornament from his vehicle.

This is alleged to have occurred in Lot 15 E between 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and 5:45 a.m. on Sunday. Due to no suspects and no leads, this case is administratively closed.
