Man killed after fleeing from police

PLANO | A Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a shooting after a man fled from a hit-and-run Saturday.

According to a press release, Bjorn S. Roland, 40, of Plano, fled on foot from the scene after being involved in an accident. While the deputy was searching for Roland near the Plano YMCA, Roland fired a handgun at the deputy.

The deputy exited his squad car to take cover. Roland then entered the car and fled northbound on Eldamain Road.

Roland then hit a Plano Police squad car and proceeded to flee westbound with the Plano squad car.

Roland exited the squad car on Faxon Road, where he threatened officers. Officers fired and struck Roland.

Roland was transported to Valley West Hospital and was pronounced dead at the scene.
