Campus blotter for 8-26-10

SUNDAY

At 12:57 a.m., University Police noticed damage to a vehicle windshield in Lot W. The windshield appeared to be damaged by someone landing on it. Case is pending investigation.

At 2:10 a.m., University Police noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and initiated a stop on the vehicle. The driver, Anthony J. Caruso, 18, failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. The passenger, Omar S. Majid, 18, was also arrested for disorderly conduct and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

At 2:23 a.m., University Police caught a subject kicking and damaging a fence by Lot 12. The subject was arrested for criminal damage to property.

At 2:29 a.m., University Police smelled cannabis coming from a group of individuals near Grant Drive. After questioning, two of the individuals were referred to Judicial Affairs for possession of cannabis.

At 10:25 a.m., University Police received a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle parked on Lot P. A stereo system was stolen from the vehicle. Due to no leads or suspects, case was closed.

At 2:29 p.m., University Police responded to a report of theft at Neptune North. Both individuals claimed to have items missing and accused each other. Case is pending.

At 9:59 p.m., a University Police officer conducted an interview at Douglas Hall regarding suspicious drug activity. A consent search of the room resulted in the individual being referred to Judicial Affairs for possession of cannabis, 30 grams and under, possession of drug equipment and unlawful possession of a weapon.

At 10:21 p.m., University Police initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle traveling at a high speed. Jonathon M. Yarrington, 20, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for illegal consumption by a minor.

MONDAY

At 2:53 p.m., University Police responded to a report regarding the theft of a bicycle from Stevenson Complex. Due to no leads and no suspects, case was closed.

At 3:15 p.m., University Police responded to a report of theft at the Jack Arends Hall (Visual Arts Building). Two laptops were reported missing. Case is pending.

At 9:13 p.m., University Police stopped a vehicle that had committed a traffic infraction. The driver, Gregory C. Holmes, 20, had an active warrant and a search of the vehicle revealed weapons and cannabis. Holmes was arrested on multiple weapons charges in addition to possession of cannabis, 30 grams and under, along with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

At 10:21 p.m., a University Police officer observed four subjects sitting on a wall in Central Park. One of the subjects placed what he had been smoking behind his back and threw it on the ground. The officer recovered the object and identified it as a metal hitter used for smoking cannabis. Quaylen D. Sanders, 18, was arrested for possession of drug equipment.
