City blotter for Aug. 24

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from the DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

At 2:39 p.m. on Sunday, DeKalb Police were called to the 400 block of North 11th Street about a domestic problem. Police learned Rachel M. Melin, 37, of DeKalb had a warrant in her name for driving with a suspended license. Police arrested Melin and charged her on account of the warrant. She was later taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

At 9:12 a.m. on Sunday, DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of W. Hillcrest Drive for running through a stop sign. Lidio Ochoa, 42, of Carpentersville was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, disobeying a stop sign, no valid driver’s license and failure to secure a child under eight. He was later released on bond.

At 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, DeKalb Police noticed a woman walking with a can of alcohol in the 1200 block of Varsity Boulevard. Police arrested Steffane L. Eskra, 18 of Homer Glenn and charged her with littering, possession of alcohol and obstructing identification. She was later released on bond.

At 12:42 a.m. on Sunday, DeKalb Police stopped a man walking in the 800 block of Fotis Drive. After questioning and searching police arrested Joseph D. Giuliano, 19, of DeKalb and charged him with unlawful possession of alcohol, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released on an individual bond.

At 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Lincoln Highway for going the wrong way on a one way street. Police learned the passenger, James E. Kallend, 35, of DeKalb a failure to appear warrant in his name for criminal damage to property. Kallend was arrested on account of the warrant and later released on bond.
