University Police Blotter: April 27

March 25

At 12:28 a.m., a victim reported someone damaged their pickup truck while it was parked in Lot 27. A long scratch was found on the side of the truck. With no further leads as of April 24, case is closed.

April 22

At 3:12 p.m., a victim reported someone took their backpack at Lincoln Hall. On April 25, the backpack was returned. Case is closed.

April 23

At 12:53 a.m., University Police on patrol in Grant South heard loud voices and the mentioning of beer from one of the rooms. After knocking on the door, the officer was allowed entry into the room. When questioned, the group admitted to drinking and revealed all of their alcohol. A search found no additional containers. All of the individuals in the room were reported to Judicial Affairs for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

At 9:27 p.m., University Police responded to a report of 10 individuals drinking alcohol in one of the rooms at Grant North. The officer knocked, and was allowed entry into the room by the resident, who admitted to drinking. Officers arrested Adam N. Calcagno, 18, of Wheaton, and Robert D. Miller, 19, of Warrenville, for illegal consumption by a minor. Calcagno was also charged with possession of under 30 grams of cannabis after a search found a small quantity of cannabis in his possession. The other individuals in the room were referred to Judicial Affairs.

April 24

At 1:55 a.m., University Police conducting a well-being check on a Grant South resident and observed the resident going into a room upon seeing the officers. When a resident of that room opened the door to the officers, the officers saw an underage individual trying to hide a bottle of Miller Lite. The individual the officers were going to check on, along with the two residents, were referred to Judicial Affairs.

At 7:51 a.m., University Police patrolling Lot X found a silver Cadillac with a broken driver’s side window. The victim stated several items were missing from his vehicle. Case is pending.

At 8:07 a.m., a victim reported criminal damage to his vehicle while it was parked in Lot 16. The driver’s side window was shattered, and the windshield was cracked. With no further leads, case is closed.

At 11:23 a.m., the foreman of the Psychology Computer Science building reported a theft from a Napkin Tampon dispenser. With no further leads, case is closed.

At 7:57 p.m., a victim reported disorderly conduct by another individual to the NIU Police Department. Case is pending.

At 8:44 p.m. a victim reported a burglary from his motor vehicle while it was parked in Lot W. Someone tore the sun visor off the roof of the car, along with an item from the center console. With no further leads, case is closed.

April 25

At 11:02 a.m., an underage student was referred to Judicial Affairs after trying to enter the tugs competition with an open bottle of Jagermeister.
