University Police Blotter: April 2

At 1:53 a.m., University Police responded to a report of domestic battery that occurred at Douglas Hall. Officers questioning the victim noticed she had visible cuts, abrasions on the neck and a swollen eye. She said she was arguing with a male individual in a car when he became violent and hit her. Officers found the offender and arrested Marcus J. Hughes, 20, of Chicago, for domestic battery. Officers booked Hughes at the NIU Police Department, where he was later transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

At 12:40 p.m., University Police recognized a female individual who was previously banned from all residence halls at Grant South. After confirming her identity and ban, officers arrested Dontesia K. Stovall, 18, of Chicago, for criminal trespassing on state-supported land. Officers booked Stovall at the NIU Police Department, where she posted bond and was later released.

At 2:07 p.m., two laptops were reported missing from the Holmes Student Center. With no other leads, case is closed.

At 11:28 p.m., a window was found broken after a room was used by a group of people at the Holmes Student Center. Case is pending.
