Results are in for the election held at Wednesday’s Faculty Senate meeting.

Alan Rosenbaum, psychology professor and current Faculty and Student Psychological Services personnel adviser, was elected the new president for the Faculty Senate’s 2009-2010 term.

Paul Stoddard is the current Faculty Senate president who will step down after holding the position for five years.

In further preparation for next year’s meetings, David Wade, associate management professor and Faculty Senate member, was elected the new Faculty and SPS personnel adviser for 2009-2011.

Furthermore, Earl Hansen, associate engineering technology professor, was re-elected as Faculty Adviser Committee Member to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

Other than the election, the Faculty Senate reiterated the ongoing parking issue.

It was mentioned that Eddie Williams, executive vice president of Finance and Facilities and chief of Operations, said the university is considering switching some yellow spaces to blue spaces as a way of having more parking for faculty members to appease some of the parking issues.

“The blue spaces that aren’t available are being taken up by people from the chiller plant project,” said Patricia Henry, associate foreign language and literature professor.

Henry said the parking committee does not just consist of faculty members.

“The parking committee has representatives from faculty but students as well,” she said.

A faculty member said 18 parking meters near the Campus Life Building were recently bagged to create more parking spaces for them right now. Other topics included trying to make NIU into a more bicycle-friendly campus, aligning the university’s Spring Break to coincide with local schools’ and more preliminary reports on the governor’s budget, which will be addressed at the April 29 University Council meeting.
