NIU students travel to Capitol Hill to intern
April 17, 2009
Hunter Huffman, Matt Venaas and Winnie Okafor will spend the summer on Capitol Hill.
These three students will participate in the Political Science Department’s summer internships with members of Congress, according to Matt Streb, associate political science professor.
Huffman will work for U.S. Rep. Don Manzullo of the 16th District, Venaas will work for U.S. Rep. Bill Foster of the 14th District and Okafor will work for U.S. Rep. Daniel Lipinski of the 3rd District.
Each student will receive $5,000 to pay for transportation to and housing in Washington, D.C. with money left for food and mass transit. The interns will stay in George Washington University’s apartment housing.
The experience provides a tuition waiver for six total credit hours to each intern: three internship hours in political science and three independent study hours in political science.
