University Police Blotter: March 30

March 26

At 9:59 a.m., a victim reported receiving offensive text messages on her cell phone at Grant South. The victim requested no action be taken against the offender, only to have the text messages stop. University Police advised the offender to not contact the victim. Case is closed.

March 28

At 1:22 a.m., University Police observed a vehicle driving without headlights. After pulling the vehicle over, officers noticed evidence of alcohol emanating from the driver. The driver failed field sobriety tests. Officers arrested Jessica R. Graziano, 21, of DeKalb, for driving under the influence. Officers booked Graziano at the NIU Police Department, where she posted bond and was later released.

At 1:32 a.m., University Police on patrol on the 11th floor of Grant Tower A were interrupted by loud banging from the crash door. The officer found two students who claimed something from the 11th or 12th floor broke their window pane on the 10th floor. The officer confirmed that their window pane on the 10th floor was broken. Case is pending.

At 2 a.m., University Police observed four intoxicated women enter the Douglas Hall lobby. One was having a hard time standing and had vomit on her back and the right sleeve of her coat. All four were slurring their words. Further conversation revealed that all four were under 21, and one had a fake ID, which she had illegally purchased. Officers arrested the ID owner, Natalia M. Ruiz, 20, of Hoffman Estates. Officers booked Ruiz at the NIU Police Department, where she posted bond and was later released. The other three women were referred to Judicial Affairs.
