University Police Blotter: Monday, Feb. 23

Feb. 20

At 12:52 a.m., University Police on patrol in Neptune North noticed cannabis coming from a room. The officer found two underage individuals consuming alcohol. The individuals were referred to Judicial Affairs.

At 3:24 a.m., University Police responded to a report of a possible fight outside Lincoln Hall. Upon arrival, officers spoke with an individual who smelled of alcohol. After determining the individual was under the age of 21, the individual was referred to Judicial Affairs.

At 4:08 a.m., University Police were alerted to a disorderly situation in Lincoln Hall. After investigating, officers arrested Candice R. Pollack, 19, of DeKalb, for illegal consumption of alcohol and criminal damage to property. Officers booked Pollack at the NIU Police Department, where she posted bond and was released. The other individuals involved were referred to Judicial Affairs.

At 9:44 p.m., University Police on patrol found an individual who was previously at the Convocation Center. Officers identified and arrested Robell F. Kumbi of Chicago, for criminal trespassing. Officers booked Kumbi at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was later released.

At 10:43 p.m., Convocation Center security staff alerted University Police to a fight in the stands. Officers separated the two individuals. After investigating, the officers released the offending individuals after the victims requested to forgo an arrest. Case is closed.

At 10:59 p.m., a victim reported that her car was broken into and items were removed while it was parked in Lot C2. University Police investigated and found no other leads. Case is closed.

Feb . 21

At 12:43 a.m., University Police on patrol found an individual who was banned from Grant South walking through that building’s lobby. Officers identified and arrested Steven A. Starnes, 19, for criminal trespassing. Officers booked Starnes at the NIU Police Department, where he was released after posting bond.

At 2:16 a.m., University Police were alerted to a car driving on the sidewalk last night near Lot 15 by student event staff. Upon arrival, officers identified the vehicle and approached the driver. Officers arrested Jeffton W. Jones, 18, of Waukegan, for illegal consumption of alcohol. Officers booked Jones at the NIU Police Department, where he was released after posting bond.

At 11:17 p.m., a victim reported being threatened via electronic means and a possible theft at Grant South. Case is pending.
