A great soundtrack for a lonely night in

By LINDSEY KASTNING

Every year, there are always those people who choose to go all out for Valentine’s Day. Without hesitation, they pay for the expensive meal and the “I love you” roses. But, there are always those who opt to veg out in front of the television and down a whole liter of Dr Pepper watching break-up movies.

With the song “This Love” from the 2002 album “Songs About Jane,” a sensation of mellowing out overtakes any angry feelings about staying in on Valentine’s Day.

“The fire burning in her eyes / the chaos that controlled my mind / whispered goodbye as she got on a plane / never to return again” are the words sung in a dreamlike way that inspire the listener to take a trip back down memory lane to lost loves or current relationship strife.

As the steady mellow beat of the tune plays on, the listener can’t help but let go of the tension and return to just letting the day pass on without a care.

So, if not headed down lover’s lane this Valentine’s Day, no worries. Just turn up the volume to “This Love,” mellow out and lay back.
