At 8:50 p.m. University Police on duty at the Convocation Center encountered two individuals at the end of a verbal argument. The male individual was visibly drunk and, during the course of the argument, had struck the female individual in the face, as her face appeared to be swollen. Her purse was also thrown to the ground and damaged. Officers arrested Joseph W. Egeland, 27, of DeKalb, for domestic battery and criminal damage to property. Officers booked Egeland at the NIU Police Department, where he was later transported to DeKalb County Jail.
