World War II poster exhibit premieres this weekend in DeKalb

Don’t know whether you’re an ally or axis? Brush up on your history this weekend in DeKalb.
Dale Cozort, local author and World War II history specialist, will speak at noon and be followed by Don Shoo, World War II veteran, who will give a presentation at the Nehring Gallery, 111 S. Second St., Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of a special exhibit devoted to World War I and WWII movie posters.
The owner of the movie poster collection, John S. Wright, will also talk about his vintage items at 2 p.m.
In addition to this event, Jeffrey Chown, professor and acting chair of communication studies, will lead a discussion and show clips from rare WWII films from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21.
To conclude the exhibit, The Egyptian Theater, 135 N 2nd St., will present three showings of the 1963 Steve McQueen film, “The Getaway,” Jan. 24. Admission is $5 for adults; and $4 for students and seniors.
The exhibit at the Nehring Gallery will be displayed until Jan. 24. Free viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays when there is an exhibit or by appointment. For more information, call The Nehring Gallery at 815-758-6363.
