Wind chill warning for DeKalb area
January 15, 2009
DeKalb is currently under a wind chill warning until noon on Friday, according to a National Weather Service statement.
The combination of cold temperatures and strong winds will drop the wind chill to between -20 and -40 degrees through Friday.
“A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken,” the NWS statement said.
DeKalb High School announced it is canceling classes due to the cold weather.
