Nov. 15

• At 2 a.m., University Police pulled a vehicle over after watching it make an improper U-turn while going south on Annie Glidden Road. The driver failed a field sobriety test. Officers arrested Evan E. Crews, 18, of Winthrop Harbor, for illegal consumption by a minor. Officers booked Crews at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was released.

• At 4:22 p.m., a victim reported someone removed the front license plate of their car. Some damage was sustained to the plate holder. Case is closed.

• At 8:18 p.m., University Police on patrol found an individual standing over another and repeatedly striking him. The officer immediately stopped the fight, and arrested Ricardo A. Sanchez, 23, of Carol Stream, for aggravated battery. An ambulance was called in for the victim, who received a puncture wound to the cheek along with visible facial injuries. Officers booked Sanchez at the NIU Police Department, where he was later transported to DeKalb County Jail.

• At 10:11 p.m., a victim reported that someone stole the pizza delivery sign on top of his car as he went inside to make a delivery at Stevenson North. Case is pending.

Nov. 16

At 12:33 a.m., several individuals attempted to enter the dance at the Recreation Center with wristbands that were stolen the day before. The case was referred to Judicial Affairs.

• At 6:54 p.m., University Police responded to an assistance call at Founders Memorial Library. Officers found a person was acting suspiciously and bothering people throughout the library. One such person filed a complaint. Officers arrested Alvin T. Jones, 32, of DeKalb, for battery and disorderly conducted. Officers booked Jones at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was released.

• At 9:05 p.m., University Police noticed a strong odor of cannabis coming from a room in Neptune East. The officers knocked and were allowed entry into the room. Officers found drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cannabis. The two individuals were referred to Judicial Affairs.

• At 9:30 p.m., a subject left his laptop unattended for a few minutes in a floor lounge of Grant North. When he returned, the laptop was gone. Case is pending.
