The hit HBO comedy “Flight of the Conchords,” which recently finished its first season, may already be coming to an end.

According to an interview with the British Magazine Q, Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have given “Flight of the Conchords” fans some seriously bad news. Both have said that playing shows around the world and writing and producing a television show has been a harder task than they recently thought.

“We’ve got a lot of half-songs” Clement told Q. “We’ve got an albums worth of beginnings of songs.” Due to the trouble of juggling all that comes with being stars in Hollywood, the second season of the hit show has already been pushed back to late 2009.

The duo broke onto the scene after season one debuted, after years of performing their musically inspired stand-up routine around the globe. The show, about two New Zealand musicians trying to make it big in New York City, features the pair jumping into song in elaborate musical numbers featured throughout the sitcom.

Both performers are also hoping to begin careers in film as well. Clement has recently admitted to auditioning for a role in the upcoming “Justice League of America” film. No word yet on what part he auditioned for or whether he has gotten the part.

It will be sad to see “Flight of the Conchords” come to an end. Hopefully they come to their senses and find a way to make the show and touring work out, but as it looks right now, the second season will be its last.
