Fey should call it quits as Palin impersonator

By NYSSA BULKES

I can’t wait for Nov. 4.

While I am a firm believer that everyone should vote, no questions asked, I’m more excited for the fact that all election-related media will stop. Sorry, Tina Fey, but the joke is getting old.

In an Oct. 24 article on E! Online, “SNL Suffers Sarah Palin Fatigue?” it said that audiences for Fey’s Palin impressions are steadily, however surely, declining. While the resemblance is still uncanny, it’s good the actress is returning to “30 Rock” sooner rather than later. The first Fey-as-Palin appearance was golden. Sorry to say, however, the success hasn’t been as fortuitous as the profits for whoever produces Palin’s nifty specs.

Sadly, I have to agree that the act should take its bow soon. The first time Fey appeared as Palin, it was hilarious, however, boosted by shock value. It seemed scandalous that the comedienne would blatantly spoof the V.P. candidate.

Now, the scandal has made its way through the tabloids and back and can’t seem to sell any more copy. The idea was great, and I applaud Fey for her performance. It’s time, however, to draw the curtain. The act is getting stale.

McCain should put that in a TV ad. Maybe that would boost him in the polls.
