Head-on collision at busy Sycamore intersection

Two drivers were taken and treated for injuries following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning.

About 9:50 a.m., a northbound vehicle on Peace Road turned left onto DeKalb Avenue and struck a southbound vehicle, said Sycamore Police Sergeant Michael Anderson. The vehicles nearly hit head-on, but at a small angle because one vehicle was turning, Anderson said.

Both drivers were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for injuries and later released.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, Kimberly Morris, 44, of Bolingbrook, was cited for failure to yield while turning left at an intersection.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, Kristine R. Tamblyn, 30, of McHenry, had a broken collar bone and lower leg injuries. Anderson did not know the extent of the Morris’ injuries.

Sycamore and DeKalb Fire Departments responded to the scene, and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies directed traffic, Anderson said.
