A man that was banned from the NIU campus was arrested for trespassing. He was also found with small amounts of drugs in his possession.

James Barlow, 24, of Rockford, was initially arrested at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday night, at Stevenson South, for trespassing. NIU Police Lt. Todd Henert said university police recognized Barlow on sight. It is unknown why Barlow is banned from campus, but Henert said Barlow may have been an NIU student previously.

Police later searched him, and found less than five grams of heroin and ecstasy, along with less than 30 grams of cannabis. Drug paraphernalia, including syringes, were also found.

Barlow has been charged with criminal trespass to land, possession of cannabis 30 grams and under, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment. He was transported to DeKalb County Jail.
