Safe Passage of DeKalb will hold a vigil to observe Violence Awareness Month.

This will be the 14th Annual Vigil at Safe Passage, which is DeKalb County’s domestic and sexual violence prevention and intervention agency.

On Oct. 6, Safe Passage will join with the DeKalb Area Women’s Center for a community candlelight vigil and program. This year’s vigil is called “Moving Forward.”

The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the DeKalb Area Women’s Center, 1021 State St., in DeKalb.

Starbucks, 1015 W. Lincoln Highway; American National Bank and Sweet Dreams Desserts will provide the refreshments.

The Midwest Museum will hold a Scandinavian heritage celebration.

Scandinavia will be the featured heritage at this fall’s Family Fun Festival presented by the Midwest Museum of Natural History in Sycamore. On Oct. 12, the Festival, which traditionally celebrates American heritage, will feature Scandinavia with Norwegian pastries, handiwork displays and authentic Norwegian dancing by the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers of Stoughton, Wis.
