New Michael Moore film ‘Slacker Uprising’ to be released for free online

What do Michael Moore and Thom Yorke of Radiohead have in common?

Aside from loathing George W. Bush, they are both among cutting edge artists releasing their products for free to the public, according to IMDB.com. However, hopefully Moore’s new film “Slacker Uprising” is not as disappointing as “OK Computer.”

Moore will allow Internet users to download the film for free starting Sept. 23 on www.slackerrising.com.

Everybody’s favorite antagonist roamed the country with a video camera on a 60-campus tour during the 2004 election and talked to young voters. This movie is supposedly a documentary about that experience, and its free release will hopefully draw a younger group and gain popularity in the college demographic, one which features low voter turnout and general apathy (or so MTV would lead you to believe).

Regardless of his politics, there is no denying that Moore delivers a quality performance every time he hits the screen. His humor and flagrant bias gives the moviegoer either a headache or inspiration.

Take notice my Republican friends, because these issues affect you as well. Low voter turnout affects both parties, and this movie is going to be focused on discussing the voting trends of yet another generation that the media has (somewhat correctly) labeled as apathetic.

Remember how Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain used to make frequent visits to the set of “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart?” Well, obviously he was cementing a spot in the minds of the young, political minded viewers of that program, many of which are most likely going to vote this fall.

“Slacker Uprising” will hopefully be the liberal counter to McCain’s shrewd tactics to gain support.

Politics aside, it would most certainly be a good idea to check this out when it is released. There is no money involved, and everyone has stake in voter apathy.
