Incubus is good music for all moods
September 3, 2008
We’ve all had those moments where we try to find the right song to fit our mood.
Whether it’s sadness from the breakup of a relationship, frustration with an assignment, or happiness in general, what should one listen to?
I often find myself opening my iTunes and after skimming through the list of tracks, I tend to land upon Incubus, no matter what mood I’m in. Their music has always been intriguing to me, especially on their latest release, “Light Grenades.” “Grenades” is reminiscent to Incubus’ older releases but has more of an edgy, modern sound to it. The album includes slow, melodic songs, as well as driven songs that are sure to captivate any mood the listener may be in.
Lead singer Brandon Boyd, expresses himself more-so on this album with poetic lyrics, where I find myself envisioning what he is singing about.
Incubus has always had a driving rock sound with a twist by adding turn-tables and keyboards to their music, but it’s made them unique. While listening, I almost feel as though I’m engulfed by the different sounds while I’m in a trance-like state.
I would highly recommend Incubus for those trying to decipher, or ease into any mood you might be in.
