University Police Blotter: Sept. 30

At 9:30 a.m., Sept. 23, University Police responded to Grant North regarding a report of harassment by telephone. The victim reported receiving several phone calls of a harassing/threatening nature from an unknown caller. Later at 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 26, the victim reported receiving additional text messages. Case is pending.

At 6:30 a.m., Sept. 26, criminal damage to a university-owned vehicle was reported in Lot X. The vehicle had damage to the driver and passenger-side mirrors. Case is closed.

At 6:30 a.m., Sept. 26, criminal damage to property was reported in Lot X. The vehicle had a broken driver-side mirror. Case is closed.

At 6:30 a.m., Sept. 26, criminal damage to property was reported in Lot X. The vehicle had several small dents and scratches. Case is closed.

At 2 p.m., Sept. 26, victim reported a burglary from her motor vehicle in Lot P near Stevenson Towers. The victim reported someone had taken motor oil, anti-freeze, and wind shield washer fluid from the trunk of her vehicle. Case is pending.

At 11 p.m., Sept. 26, victim reported someone had taken her wallet from her pocket while she attended a concert at the NIU Convocation Center.

At 12:20 a.m., Sept. 27, University Police working a dance at the Campus Recreation Center noticed two individuals had become disorderly. The police attempted to escort the individuals out of the dance when one of them became physically combative and pushed an officer. Officers arrested Marcus T. Ward, 20, of Chicago for illegal consumption of alcohol and for resisting a peace officer. Officers booked Ward at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was released.

At 12:20 a.m., Sept. 27, University Police working a dance at the Recreation Center saw an individual push a student worker. Officers arrested Ellis R. Agnew-downs for battery. Officers discovered that Agnew-downs was wanted for another warrant. Officers booked Agnew-downs at the NIU Police Department, and then transported him to DeKalb County Jail.

At 1:10 a.m., Sept. 27, University Police officers working a dance at the Recreation Center witnessed a student strike another person in the face. Officers removed the student from the dance. The victim did not wish to file charges. The student was referred to Judicial Affairs.

At 1:20 a.m., Sept. 27, graffiti was discovered on the exterior of the Recreation Center in Parking Lot 15E. Case is closed.

At 3:30 a.m., Sept. 27, University Police pulled over a vehicle driving with no headlights on. Police determined that driver was under the influence of alcohol, and arrested Kirk M. Wold, 21. Wold also gave a false name to the police, who was charged with an obstruction of justice charge as well. Officers booked Wold at the NIU Police Department, and then transported him to DeKalb County Jail.

At 7:30 a.m., Sept. 27, University Police discovered an individual who had illegally consumed alcohol. The individual was released without charges.

At 12:07 p.m., University Police responded to Grant Towers regarding a report of harassment by telephone. The victim reported receiving phone calls of a harassing/threatening nature. Case is pending.

At 4 p.m., Sept. 27, victim reported a criminal sexual assault in Douglas Hall. Case is pending.

At 5:22 p.m,, Sept. 27, criminal damage to property was reported in Lot O. The vehicle had several large dents on it. Case is pending.

At 5:42 p.m., Sept. 27, victim reported someone had taken his bicycle from the exterior of the Holmes Student Center. Case is closed.

At 10:00 p.m., Sept. 27, a University Police officer on foot stopped a vehicle after smelling the odor of burnt cannabis coming from inside it. The officer searched the vehicle and found cannabis. The officer arrested Janart B. Winfrey, 21, of Chicago and charged him with possession of cannabis, 30 grams and under. The officer booked Winfrey at the NIU Police Department, who posted bond and was released.

At 11:30 p.m., Sept. 27, victim reported someone had taken his laptop from the Carl Sandburg Auditorium. Case is pending.
