Student group helps students file taxes

Tax day is less than a month away, and students who need help or advice filing their taxes can get it on campus.
Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is the name of the event that helps students by assisting in the filing of federal and state income tax.
Kyle Schiebout, a member of Accountancy Leadership Advisory Council, is working with VITA to help those in need of tax assistance. He said this is something the council has been doing for years.
“Students who have not gotten their taxes done will be able to get help,” Schiebout said. “I hope that as many as students as possible are able to take advantage of this free service.”
Brad Cripe, associate professor of accountancy, agreed with Schiebout.
“This is a really great opportunity that has students helping students with their taxes,” he said.
