Everyone’s had those days where they feel like giving in.

No one can relate to that more than artists, who must swim among several other potential artists and somehow make it to the shore of success. For a rapper, Eminem’s “Rabbit Run” seems to be the perfect example of that highly unlikely, but highly rewarding, struggle.

“Rabbit Run” is an adrenaline rush of lyricism, running three minutes and 10 seconds without a single break.

With his first line, Slim Shady drops the premise on us like a bomb, rapping, “Some days I just wanna up and call it quits.” This side of Eminem is much harder on himself.

He also, not surprisingly, has no problem delving into personal and family issues. He says, “All I know is I’m about to hit the wall / if I have to see another one of Mom’s alcoholic fits.” The fire in his voice surely can be attributed to the pressure of trying to start a career and dealing with unattractive domestic issues.

As the momentum builds, the lyrics slowly take a turn into a more confident and aggressive tone. Despite everything in opposition of his goal, Eminem does not announce defeat: “I found my niche, you gon’ here my voice / ‘Till you’re sick of it, you ain’t gonna have a choice.”

If only we all had that kind of drive.
