Internship Fair to take place Wednesday; Job Fair rescheduled to later date

The internship fair scheduled for Wednesday will take place as planned, while the job fair has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 19.

The Spring Internship Fair will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Convocation Center. The job fair was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, but was rescheduled due to the campus closure.

According to Career Services, registered employers at the internship fair include Caterpillar, Jewel-Osco, Porsche Business Service, along with many other local and national companies.

Employers are available to accept resumés, meet people and find good applicants. Career Services’ Web site says interviews are often performed at the fair, but immediate job offers are rare.

Career Services suggests students bring enough resumés for all their interviews along with extras if needed. Photocopying will not be available at the Convo.

Career Services also recommends knowing the companies at the fair prior to arriving and having a 45-second qualification speech prepared for interviews. Transcripts are also recommended along with a list of references.

On Monday, the Convo hosted the educators’ job fair, which Cindy Henderson, executive director of Career Services, said was successful.

“It was very successful; students showed up in great numbers,” Henderson said.

Henderson is hoping for the same turnout for the internship fair Wednesday.
