Virginia Tech in DeKalb to help NIU
Campus Crusade for Christ will host a night of “hope and healing” for the NIU community Thursday. Members of the Virginia Tech community will be on hand to share their experiences from last year as well as try and help NIU. The event will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center Capitol Room. The first 90 minutes will deal with finding healing through the community, with “Finding Hope through Faith” beginning at 9 p.m.
An additional event will take place at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in Wirtz Hall, Room 100, in which 10 Virginia Tech students will come to DeKalb on their Spring Break for another night of reflection.

Additional memorial service
There will be a pan-Orthodox Christian memorial service and meeting at 4 p.m. today in the Holmes Student Center, Room 505. Refreshments will be served. A member of the national Orthodox Christian Fellowship, Kevin Scherer, will lead the service.
Depression group first meeting tonight
NIU students are invited to attend a newly formed support group to deal with depression, bipolar disorders and other mental health issues.
The first meeting for Group Hope & DBSA is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. today in Holmes Student Center, Room 306.
Group Hope is as service of the Mental Health Association of Rock River Valley, according to the press release.

Former white supremacist speaks
As part of Black History Month, “Turning Away from Hate,” will be at 7 p.m. today in the Holmes Student Center, Carl Sandburg Auditorium.
Tom Leyden, a former neo-Nazi and white supremacist activist and recruiter, had a change of heart and began teaching tolerance while turning away from hate, according to the press release.

Red Cross offers classes Saturday
The DeKalb County American Red Cross will host first aid and CPR/AED classes starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The First Aid class will go until noon, with a CPR/AED class at 12:30 p.m.
It will cost $45 per class or $75 when registering for both.
