Study Abroad Office offers new programs

Five new study abroad programs are being offered this summer.

The Study Abroad Office offers programs for undergraduate and graduate students to travel to China, India, Turkey and Thailand. Students can earn from three to six NIU credit hours, said Emily Gorlewski, outreach and programming coordinator for the Study Abroad Office.

The office offers NIU credit to students throughout the year, Gorlewski said. She added that students of any major can study abroad and travel to over 100 countries around the world.

Allison Guedes, junior marketing major, has traveled to Malaysia and said it was a completely different experience. She hopes to travel to China this summer and visit more of the world.

“We learned different programs and moved from city to city in Malaysia,” Guedes said. “Whenever the opportunity arrives, I would like to go to Ireland at some point.”

“How to find Money for Study Abroad” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Holmes Student Center, Room 505, for those interested.

Gorlewski said students will learn how to pay and save money for a trip through scholarships and financial aid.

Students should visit the study abroad office in Williston Hall, Room 417, for more information on the programs.
