Upcoming Movie Previews (Part 2)
December 4, 2007
“Cloverfield” – Jan. 18
Producer J.J. Abrams brings forth his hush-hush project that has had moviegoers engaged and puzzled since its trailer debuted back in July.
From the little information that is carefully revealed, the story seems to focus on a group of young citizens as they document a monster wreaking havoc upon New York City.
There isn’t much to speculate, since there isn’t much actually known about this mysterious film. However, with the buzz around it, it will either live up to its own hype or turn out to be a major disappointment.
“Rambo” – Jan. 25
In this, the fourth installment of the “Rambo” series, Sylvester Stallone will kill a lot of bad guys, only this time in Thailand. This latest Stallone franchise revival may be as entertaining and fan pleasing as 2006’s “Rocky Balboa” proved to be.
However, it is far less necessary and will probably end up being nothing more than a typical guy’s night out at the movies: Blood and popcorn.
“Be Kind Rewind” – Jan. 25
After accidentally destroying every tape in his friend’s video store, Jerry (Jack Black) compensates for the damage with a quirky idea. He and his friend Mike (Mos Def) will themselves remake abridged versions of all the films and rent them out to customers.
Director Michel Gondry’s skill and rareness as a filmmaker looks to be a perfect match for the modest range that both Black and Mos Def possess. Also, having one of the most original and interesting concepts doesn’t hurt much either.
