Homecoming Weekend differs for everyone

Although the Huskies were not victorious, NIU students were undeterred.

Many students said they enjoyed the Homecoming Weekend atmosphere.

“The atmosphere around campus was neat,” said junior journalism major Ryan Trine. “I think the university should have more weekends like this one.”

For Trine, the weekend consisted of a trip home, along with the football game and time with friends.

“[I] went home Friday night, but came back for a cookout, tailgating, and the football game,” he said.

The weekend wasn’t all fun and games for a few students who chose to earn some cash before a night on the town.

“I worked all day [at the Neptune front desk], then went home and watched TV,” said Brianna Skovronski, junior elementary education major.

Her coworker, Mimi McGlauchlin, a sophomore elementary education major, had a similar weekend, working from 11 to 3 a.m. at the Neptune front desk.

“I worked basically and hung out with friends,” McGlauchlin said. “It was fun just hanging out with everyone.”
