Used squad cars available at auction hosted by DeKalb County Sheriff’s office

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s office is holding an auction for used squad cars and forfeited vehicles Saturday.

The vehicles, which come mainly from the DeKalb and Sycamore police departments and the county sheriff’s office, will be auctioned off at 10 a.m. Saturday at the DeKalb County Highway Department, 1826 Greene Road.

The money from the auctions will be used for purchases of future police vehicles, and the funds from the forfeited vehicles will go back to the arresting agencies, said DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.

All vehicles have clear titles and will be sold “as-is” to the highest bidder without knowledge of mechanical condition. The auction is open to the public, and all buyers must have a valid Illinois drivers license and pay with valid check or cash.

“This is a great opportunity for the public to buy back squad cars we’ve used and have been maintained really well,” Scott said.
