Tennis squad parts ways

Considering the fact that the NIU men’s tennis team will be in two places at one time, one would think coach Tim Madden is moonlighting as a magician.
David Copperfield need not worry, Madden hasn’t really sawed the Huskies in half, he’s simply sending a delegation to Ball State University’s Invitational, slated for Friday through Sunday (Oct. 1-3), and also a full squad to Charleston, IL, where Eastern Illinois University is hosting the Mid-Continent Conference Fall individual Classic on Friday and Saturday.
“In an effort to get our top people ranked regionally, we’re sending four guys to Ball State, where several top players from the Big Ten and Mid-American (conferences) will be competing, but we’re also participating in our league’s individual tourney. I think it’s a great challenge both ways,” Madden explained.
Heading to BSU’s invitational are Marty Engel, Matt Green, Sunu Thomas, and Andy Caldwell. Thomas and Green were among the few Huskies to record splits over the past weekend when NIU competed in th University of Notre Dame Invitational. Spearheading NIU’s efforts in Charleston will be Peter Berka and Chris Hallowell.
