Emergency guides are now available for students and staff that have just recently published.

The purpose of these guides are for students to be prepared for any possible kind of emergency situation that could occur on campus.

Thomas Krepel, Assistant to President John Peters, was one of the people who helped put this together.

“This is the first time NIU has done something like this and we hope to put others out annually from here on out.”

The guides have been sent to all employees including student employees on campus.

Krepel hopes that they will be put in every classroom and lab on campus so students will have easy access to them.

The guides have been worked on for some time and we’re focused on more due to current events.

“Virginia Tech certainly put a spotlight on safety on campus with students asking about what the campus would do in a situation like that. But even before that, we were already in the process of working on them in regards to students’ safety,” Krepel said.
