Bears fans are frustrated, disappointed by Chicago loss

DeKALB | Disappointed faces were plentiful after the Chicago Bears’ loss to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night in Super Bowl XLI.
An event that started out with the highest of highs ended with the lowest of lows.
A group of primarily Bears fans gathered at a Rushmore Drive apartment, just north of the NIU campus.
Devin Hester’s 92-yard opening kickoff return for a touchdown sent Bears fans into a frenzy. The looks on those same faces told a different story at the conclusion of the game.
“The touchdown was exciting and encouraging, but it was the best play of the day for the Bears, so we never were able to regain that excitement,” said junior accounting major Robin Schrader.
The fourth quarter was one of the toughest to handle as the fans cringed with each of Rex Grossman’s interceptions. “I don’t know what he was thinking,” said junior marketing major Patrick Kaiser. “He needs to learn to put the ball in his pocket and stop losing games for us.”
Grossman has taken criticism throughout the season. Junior finance major Tim Freeman is harsher yet.
“Grossman should go back to the University of Florida, as he is not ready to play in the NFL,” he said.
Indianapolis’ Kelvin Hayden returned a Grossman interception 56 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
“I knew the game was pretty much over at that point,” said Scott Sutarik, a junior business administration major.
Drafting a quarterback this year will be one of the keys to putting a better team on the field next season, Freeman said.
