Supporting terrorism is not the way
January 29, 2007
It is one thing to blame President Bush for all the world’s problems, but to distort the truth and support terrorists goes too far. Liz Stoever in Friday’s paper had a [column] on how the United States and Ethiopia should stop bombing Muslim extremists in Somalia because Somalia does not need the extra violence, the Muslim extremists bring a stable government and President Bush needs to stop labeling everyone a terrorist. Stoever ends by saying the Ethiopian troops should leave Somalia and a UN peacekeeping force should come in instead. As it turns out, Stoever has everything wrong. The main error is that these Muslim extremists are terrorists, and the reason Ethiopia asked the U.S. to come in is because Ethiopia has the head leader of al-Qaida for east Africa cornered in a city in Somalia. These Muslim extremists only bring control to Somalia because they kill anyone and everyone that opposes them. They want to take over so they can make Somalia a terrorist country and kill or convert the people to their brand of Islam. There is a reason why Ethiopia found it worth it to help the Somali government; they know they are next. These Muslim extremists move from country to country, killing and taking over. It is by no coincidence that Sudan is close by (the country that Darfur is in, where there is a genocide of Christians at the hands of Muslim extremists). In a similar way, Hezbollah is trying to take over Lebanon with Iran and Syria next door. Now, consider Hezbollah and the UN peacekeepers in Lebanon. The UN has 20,000 troops in Lebanon and they just sit and watch as Hezbollah brings in tons of weapons from Iran and Syria and try to topple the Lebanese government. The UN also does nothing for the people of Darfur. The UN in Somalia would also do nothing, but that is what Stoever wants, because then the Muslim extremist can take over and Ethiopia will have no choice but to watch. President Bush is not attacking anyone and everyone; he is helping a country that is on the verge of being ruled by people that rule with weapons. We can only hope that the people of Lebanon and Darfur are helped too, before it is too late.
