Cafe to host a pair of rock shows

The House Cafe, 263 E. Lincoln Highway, will showcase a pair of distinctively diverse musical evenings tonight and Thursday. The weekend will feature bands, The Chariot and Elanors, amongst others.
Tonight The Chariot — featuring Josh Scogin, former vocalist of Normal Jean — will headline the downtown venue as its only Illinois show before a Nov. 10 gig at Chicago’s Beat Kitchen. The show is $10 and will begin at 7 p.m.
The quartet made a recent dent in the current hardcore and metal underground scene. The band on Solid State Records plans to release its sophomore album next year.
“The next record will definitely define who The Chariot is,” said Scogin.
The follow-up to 2005’s “Unsung” EP is tentatively titled “Porcelain.” Setting aside several lineup changes, Christian virtues continue to be important for the Atlanta-founded band. Also slated to perform is August Burns Red, Destroy the Runner, 12 Gauge Valentine and Inhale Exhale.
On Thursday, Chicago’s Elanors will take the House’s, stage headlining a show to start at 8 p.m. and cost $5.
This past summer, the indie quartet that is comprised of three guys and a girl, signed to Urbana-based Parasol Records. The evening’s performance is the start of a four-day stint that will stop in Chicago, Madison and Dubuque, Iowa. Elanors’ most recent release is an LP entitled “Movements.”
Carl Nelson will open with more guests still to be announced.
