October prom hits House

DeKALB | Saturday, the House Cafe, 263 E. Lincoln Highway, will be home to a punk rock prom party, complete with patron’s canvas shoes, ridiculous suits and dressed and gaudily accessories.

John Ugolini of Kickstand Productions has organized the second annual Prom Party at the House.

“The idea is really nothing more than the product of a quarter-life crisis,” Ugolini said. “It came about after some personal time sulking over the fact that I had never been to a prom. I guess you could say that the intentions in the organizing of this event are completely self-serving.”

This year, prom-goers will be entertained by the Truck City Bandits and DJ Tonezone who will spin funk, soul and dance music for the remainder of the night.

Ugolini said last year’s party was well-attended, and that attendees this year should keep a few things in mind.

“I swing for the fences, baby! You don’t drive around in a Ford Tercel without knowing how to have an ‘F’ of a good time. You know what I mean?” said Ugolini. “I think it would be safe to assume that you will probably meet your future life partner at this event. It should also be noted that going stag is perfectly acceptable.”
