Phi Sigma Kappa barred from homecoming festivities
October 18, 2006
DeKALB | The Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity has been placed under a temporary sanction by NIU and will not be permitted to participate in any homecoming activities, said Angela Dreessen, director of student involvement and leadership development.
The sanction came as a result of several incidents occurring over the past three years, which finally came to a head, said director of judicial affairs Larry Bolles.
The fraternity is still under investigation, Bolles said. Neither Bolles nor Dreessen can confirm nor deny the incident having to do with hazing.
“The temporary sanction will stand until the case has concluded and the fraternity is found to be not responsible,” Dreessen said. “They can then go back to their operations, depending on what comes out of the investigation.”
Phi Sigma Kappa could not be reached for comment as of press time.
