CAB offers Texas Hold ’em tournaments

The Huskie Den will offer CAB’s Hump Day Texas Hold ’em Tournaments on Wednesdays. Registration is 7 to 8 p.m. and the hand begins at 8 p.m. There is no cost to students. Weekly prizes are offered and the final table for a grand prize will include all weekly winners.
CAB’s $4 U Spectacular Sundays also are held weekly. For $4, students get two games of bowling and shoes or two hours at the pool table. One food item and one drink also are included.

Accountancy Dept. ranks 11th in nation

The accountancy department was once again ranked among many of the United States’ top accountancy programs.
“The goal of this program has always been, and continues to be, sustained excellence, so it is very satisfying to be included on this list year after year,” said Jim Young, accountancy department chair, in an NIU press release.
NIU’s undergraduate accountancy program currently is ranked 11th in the nation, while NIU’s graduate accountancy program is ranked 10th in the nation by the 24th annual Professor’s Survey in the Public Accounting Report.
Other schools included on the list are Notre Dame, Brigham Young and six other Big 10 schools.

SA spring fair helps organizations promote

The Student Association will host the first Spring Organizational Fair Feb. 13 through 16 in the Stevenson Cafeteria.
Organizations will showcase what they have to offer from 3 to 7 p.m. daily.
SA Vice President Daniel Jaquez said the purpose of the fair is “to give organizations an opportunity to bring awareness of their organizations to the community.”
The SA hosted an Organizational Expo in the fall but this will be the first spring fair.
About 20 organizations have signed up as of Monday, Jaquez said. Tables are given on a first come, first serve basis. There are 24 tables available each day.
The deadline to reserve a table is Feb. 10. Organizations can contact Jaquez for further information or to reserve a table.

Police find minors in bars over weekend

On Saturday, DeKalb police issued a number of citations to minors found inside DeKalb bars.
Police issued citations to seven minors at The Barn, 1215 Blackhawk Road.
Two citations also were issued at Molly’s Bar and Grill, 1000 W. Lincoln Highway.
Police also issued two citations at Mardi Gras Lanes, 1730 Sycamore Road.
