Summer enrollment figures stay constant
June 26, 2006
The number of students enrolled in summer courses this year is very close to last year’s count.
Overall, NIU’s current total summer enrollment is 3.6 percent less than last summer’s.
The amount of students who are enrolled in on-campus classes, however, is .0087 percent more than summer 2005.
Although the official count for summer enrollment won’t be complete until the last week of classes, the standing total of summer 2006 enrollment is 9,131 students, with 6,741 of those students attending on-campus courses. Last year, 9,395 students took NIU summer classes, with 6,665 of them remaining on-campus.
“Most of these numbers will go up,” said vice provost Earl Seaver. “These numbers have been consistent with where we’ve been in the past couple years.”
The amount of students attending NIU this summer is roughly one quarter of expected attendance in the fall. Last fall, a total of 25,208 students were enrolled at NIU, and 22,499 of them took classes on-campus.
